The following three projects highlight how Protoblast works this year alongside clients to meet evolving production demands, improve efficiency, and deliver dependable results that stand the test of time.
Built on Trust: NEPEAN Engineering
In the mid-1990s, NEPEAN expanded its surface preparation capabilities with a large grit blast chamber featuring a full-floor abrasive recovery system, followed by a third chamber for bead and garnet blasting. Designed, built, and installed by Protoblast, these systems remain in operation today, supported by ongoing preventive maintenance.
In 2025, Protoblast delivered a custom blast chamber for Nepean’s new Sydney site, featuring an “H” recovery system, internal dimensions of 20 metres long, 6 metres wide, and 6 metres high, a 32,000 cfm dust collector, an automatic rubber roller door, and a prefabricated pit for efficient installation.
We’re genuinely pleased with the end result. It’s been a very well-executed project overall. The commissioning team has done a fantastic job, highly professional, cooperative, and accommodating throughout the process. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to the whole Protoblast team.
We look forward to continuing our relationship with Protoblast over the next 30 years and beyond.
Efficiency Redefined: MEDGAS
Already commissioned and fully operational, a new Spinner Hanger Machine is transforming production at MEDGAS. Designed for speed, consistency, and ease of operation, the system has replaced manual blasting with a faster, more controlled process that keeps work moving and raises efficiency.
Located in Victoria, the machine delivers reliable, repeatable results that support higher throughput and improved workflow.
The Protoblast Spinner Hanger Machine that we have installed has been one of the best investments we have made. I would never go back to manual blasting again. This machine is a game changer. The support from the Protoblast team has been exceptional.
From Steel to Finish-Ready: Ascent
The result is improved lead times, consistent surface quality, and greater control across production. From standard builds to specialised applications, Protoblast designs abrasive blasting solutions that deliver long-term value and operational control.
We had a bottleneck in blast & paint where the painters were continually waiting for steel from the blast room. Now we have the opposite “problem” where the painters can’t keep up.
Great machine…. massive increase to productivity…… and great to deal with the Protoblast team. Would highly recommend them and their products.
As Protoblast marks 50 years in 2025, the projects delivered this year reflect what has defined the company from the beginning: long-term partnerships, practical engineering, and solutions built to perform in real-world industrial environments. From decades-long relationships such as NEPEAN Engineering to productivity-focused upgrades like the MEDGAS Spinner Hanger Machine, each project demonstrates Protoblast’s commitment to reliability, efficiency, and customer collaboration.
While technologies and production demands continue to evolve, Protoblast remains focused on the fundamentals that matter most to our customers, quality design, dependable performance, and ongoing support. As we move forward, we carry five decades of experience into every system we build, continuing to support Australian industry with abrasive blasting solutions designed for longevity, safety, and operational confidence.
